Apple investigating inaccurate battery percentage data on iPhone 6s, 6s Plus
Have you experienced the battery of your iPhone 6s or 6s Plus suddenly dying without warning? You are not the only one experiencing this issue.
iPhone users have shared the same experience in Apple’s support forums: One minute the battery indicator of the phone shows a full charge, the next minute the handset shuts off due to a drained battery. Other users on the other hand have complained about their handsets getting warm to the touch while their batteries get used up rapidly without knowing which particular application is causing the increase in power usage.
Apple has taken to its support forums to admit what appears to be a software bug in iOS 9 that causes the battery indicator on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus to inaccurately display battery percentage data. In short, it may seem that the battery of your iPhone has more than enough charge in it but in reality, the battery percentage indicator of the device hasn’t updated to show the correct battery levels as you use the handset throughout the day.
Apple says in its support website that the battery percentage indicator on the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus could stop working properly on handsets that have had their time changed manually. This problem can also be seen in handsets that have been through different time zones that have gotten their time zones changed automatically.
Apple has suggested two troubleshooting options for people affected by this issue. The first option is to restart the affected iPhone by pressing and holding its power and home button at the same time until the Apple logo appears. If this step doesn’t fix the issue, Apple suggests going to the Settings > General > Date & Time and ensuring the option to Set time automatically is selected.
